Munich-based UNU Motors has developed an electric scooter that boasts a removable lithium-ion battery pack. The electric vehicle (EV) has a top speed of 28mph (45kmh) and costs EUR1,700 ($2,200) for a model with a 50km driving range and EUR2,400 ($3,100) for 100km of range.
The Panasonic battery packs take five-to-six hours to recharge using a standard 230-volt wall socket, and UNU claims the battery will keep around 70% of its charge capacity for the first 31,000 miles of travel. The scooter also benefits from regenerative braking.
UNU does not work with dealers and instead sells the electric moped via its website. This, it says, helps keep its costs down.
