Audi has revealed more details of the electric version of its R8 supercar. The R8 e-tron produces 456bhp, helping you accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.9 seconds while offering a (limited) top speed of 155mph.
Audi previously shelved plans for an all-electric R8 due to battery and charging limitations. The German carmaker appears to have overcome this with the R8 e-tron providing an electric driving range of up to 276 miles (444km) and charging times of two hours, if you are using a fast charger.
Pricing details have not been revealed, however, customers are expected to be able to begin making orders later this year.
Being an electric vehicle (EV) and a sportscar, the Audi invites inevitable comparisons with Tesla Motors’ Model S P85D which offers acceleration of 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds, a top speed of 155mph and a driving range of 300 miles (482km).
Audi fans can take solace in the fact that the P85D also has faster acceleration than both the Porsche 911 and Ferrari 599.
